Context: I am part of a local Jazz Ensemble, and there was an awards night coming up in a few months. Someone jokingly suggested that we should be a side-stage band and play people on and off the stage (like The Roots are for Jimmy Fallon). Everyone liked the idea so much, that we compiled a list of over 40 songs we would like to do. I whittled it down to a top 25, and then wrote 23 short arrangements of popular songs, movie scores, and meme tunes.
